Bionic Patients and Team Shine at AOPA 2024: A Journey of Learning and Innovation

This past September, several members of the Bionic team had the privilege of attending the annual American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA) Conference in Charlotte, NC. The event offered a fantastic opportunity for our clinical team to expand their knowledge, enhance their skills, and stay updated on the latest advancements in the O&P field. With several days filled with educational courses, product demonstrations, and invaluable relationship building, the team is now better equipped to continue delivering top-notch patient care.

What made this year's event particularly special was the presence of two of our long-time patients, Reynaldo Morales and Raymond Conley. For the first time ever, Bionic patients attended an O&P Conference alongside our clinical team. Morales and Conley, both above-knee amputees, had the unique opportunity to experience the event from a different perspective—one that gave them an in-depth look into the world of orthotics and prosthetics.

Morales shared his thoughts on the experience, saying, “The event was a learning experience on so many levels. I have a whole new level of appreciation for the fabrication process, the cutting-edge technology, and the Bionic Team for making me feel part of their family.”

Conley echoed those sentiments, adding, “It opened my eyes to what all is out there, especially with regards to highly advanced technology. The Team was also very relatable and had an awesome positive energy.”

In addition to the educational sessions and networking opportunities, the conference also showcased the latest advancements in prosthetic technology. Bionic had the honor of exhibiting our innovative One Source platform, which aims to streamline O&P practices with features for documentation, coding, purchasing, fabrication, and time-cost savings—all in one comprehensive solution. We also had the opportunity to introduce newly released prosthetic knees from BrainRobotics and BionicM, giving attendees a glimpse into the future of prosthetic mobility.

We are incredibly grateful for the chance to participate in this year’s AOPA Conference and to share it with our patients. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this event so memorable, especially to Reynaldo Morales and Raymond Conley, who joined us in representing Bionic. Your presence brought an extra layer of meaning to the experience, and we look forward to continuing to innovate and grow as a team.
